NOT even a frosty cold wind howling across West Lodge could freeze Whitecraigs title charge on Saturday.

Edinburgh challengers Lismore travelled to Glasgow trying to avenge their 59 point pounding from ‘Craigs earlier in the season.

And despite a much improved performance by Lismore they could not stop ‘Craigs notching up another bonus point victory.

The day started well for the visitors when they nudged in front with a penalty after just 10 minutes.

And when ‘Craigs went down to 14 men after Finlay Hunter was sin-binned for foul play things looked good for the capital team.

But with their backs to the wall Whitecraigs started to play the way their fans have become accustomed to this season.

A superb set penalty move sent Keith Hunter under the posts to put ‘Craigs in the driving seat.

The try seemed to settle the home side and they started to play with more invention.

‘Craigs broke from inside their own half before Little chipped the ball through and pounced on the loose ball to cap a wonderful team move and put ‘Craigs 14-3 up at the interval.

League leaders Whitecraigs picked up where they left off after the break and wonderful quick handling in the backs got the ball into winger Fisher’s hands and he powered through the defender for a touch down.

As time was running out in the match it seemed as though ‘Craigs uninspiring performance was not going to reward the home crowd with the bonus point they craved.

But then a mazy run from man-of-the-match Kemp and a great offload to Henderson allowed the scrum half to seal the crucial extra point.

And to cap it all Moffat completed a flawless kicking display to leave the final score at 28-3.

Head coach Jim Henderson said: “In this type of weather you just have to grind out a win.

“We did that today with a bonus point and that keeps the pressure on the chasing pack.”
