Although a more comprehensive ‘Craigs News’, August Edition’ shall be released next week I though it important to communicate with you and draw your attention to the events this weekend.

Saturday 30 August – heralds the arrival of the new rugby season when the 1st XV open their National Division 2 account against Kilmarnock at West Lodge KO 3pm.

The commitment and preparation by the coaches, players and support team has been very impressive with an excellent display at Stockport last week against a team which most certainly was of Scottish Premier 2 status. Although there is a confidence within, there is also a realism that we are within a promoted league and it will be difficult and challenging.

What is needed is your support, please. There are no other WRC games on Saturday thus hopefully a large turn out I am sure, would be gratefully appreciated by the coaches and players.

You should also know there is a pre match lunch kicking off at 12.30 with entertainment provided by a well-known speaker, Sandy Strang. The cost of the 3 course lunch prepared by our new chef Christopher Freeman, is £15 including programme.

Sunday 31st August - Alex Cavers has organised a quiz this Sunday starting at 7.30. This is our first monthly quiz and something to really look forward to with £50 and other prizes up for grabs.
