Pre Season Friendly Whitecraigs v Glasgow Accies
The rain could not even dampen the spirits, of what was a reasonable crowd, who had come to watch the new squads first game, which was to have been played at the visiting teams ground but due to last minute problems, the fixture was held at West lodge.
Played over 3 x 30 minutes and with Ryan Moffat Captaining the side for the day all got underway. Both sides tested one another for the first 30 minutes, with no score. Scores only came in the 2nd and 3rd period, the result is immaterial, suffice to say, those who watched, would not have been disappointed, in what they saw on display.
Afterwards a” trial” court was convened with those who think the coach is just an extension of their mother (running after them all the time!) quickly brought to book. We were all particularly pleased to see some old faces, come and join us who are “out on loan” to other clubs, can I remind them it’s still your club, it’s where you learned your trade and the door is always open.
It was also particularly nice to see that old stalwart of the club Tam Hume down in such bad weather and I am sure I saw big Jim smiling in the company of “Sir”.
A reminder that Tuesday night will see Ayr 1st XV visit us to train alongside us.
This week will see the appointment of the Club Captain and Vice Captain and with the friendly next week against Dalziel (away) with a 2pm kick off, it promises to be a busy week.
The support was great this weekend, can we ask that it continues, as it really helps the team.
