WHITECRAIGS 13 - 5 LASSWADE
WHITECRAIGS arrived in Edinburgh determined to stay top of the league – and ground out a hard fought victory.
Hosts Lasswade welcomed 'Craigs to their magnificent new facility with a strong, cold wind blowing down the pitch.
Despite the visitors playing with the elements in the first half it was Lasswade that immediately took control and had the majority of the possession early on.
And good driving forward play by the hosts saw Lasswade bundle over for a score after just 10 minutes.
Slowly 'Craigs gained some momentum and there were some fine thrusting runs by many of the forwards, with Pollock well to the fore.
After captain Ryan Moffat had missed one shot at goal just before the break a penalty by Fisher saw the deficit reduced and gave the Glasgow boys a fighting chance.
After severe words from head coach Jim Henderson at the interval Whitecraigs immediately took the game to the opposition.
Tremendous driving work by the forwards and forceful running by the backs kept Lasswade on the back foot throughout.
But it took until 10 minutes before the end for a relieved Whitecraigs side to cross the line.
The score came after good battling work by both forwards and backs before a wonderful floated pass by Little opened up the home defence for Fisher to power over.
And the clinching points came in the dying minutes as Pollock rounded off a good team move.
The final score of 5-13 concluded an excellent month for Whitecraigs as they went undefeated against all of their fellow promotion chasers.
