Mini & Micro Rugby @ Whitecraigs

Coaching and Volunteering

If you are a parent, an ex player or just interested in supporting the club please speak to us about volunteering, coaching or refereeing:

VOLUNTEERING - There are always jobs to be done, large and small and it need not take up much of your time. Could you help out with any of the following, even if occasionally?

  • Serving on the tuck shop
  • Taking registration
  • Handing out information sheets to other parents
  • Putting out the equipment
  • Acting as "touch judge" during games
  • Taking photos for the website

COACHING - All our coaches are ordinary folk (not aliens as some of the players suggest) with an interest in rugby and the development of young people. You don't need experience as a former player to be a good coach, although obviously it can help. All coaches are given Foundation Training through the SRU (usually over 2 evenings), and our aim is to have all coaches achieve the Level 1 SRU Coaching Standard (usually 2½ days). Although it can be hard work at times it really is great fun.

REFEREEING - Yes we really do mean refereeing and no we don't need our heads examined (maybe our eyes....?). Why not join our pool of referees and help out at matches? Again there is training at Foundation Level and then on to Level 1, and again it can be very enjoyable. Honestly!!!

COST - All training is paid for by the club as this is seen as an investment into the future of Whitecraigs Rugby Club. You would be expected to pay your own travel, although the courses are usually around the Glasgow area.

DISCLOSURES - Obviously all volunteers/coaches/referees are expected to undertake an enhanced disclosure through Disclosure Scotland as part of the club's Child Protection Policy. This usually takes 2-4 weeks.

INTERESTED?? - Please speak to Noel Barron 07714 127159 / noel@ajclarkgroup.co.uk or contact Boyd Carsewell at the club.
