Return game with Wanderers beckons to decide the league

WRC U16 74 - 0 ARDROSSAN U16

POTM: FIN BARBER

After the disappointment of our Bowl Final defeat, the16s were back in the saddle against Ardrossan, completing the delayed league competition.

The team were a little sluggish in the warm up, but by the time the game was underway they were switched on. The wind was blustery and would make for some challenging conditions for both teams. The game started with some good physical play form both teams, Harry started the scoring with a great No.8 pick, which lead to Max going over for his 26th try of the season (seriously impressive). The forwards dominated the play in the first half, Lee, Harry and Oli added to the tries with great build up from Ruairidh, Matthew H, Munro, Lewis and Max (McKie, great first appearance, some great tackling on show, well done on debut). There was a flash of brilliance from the backs despite the weather, a really neat exchange between Fin and Liam led to Tom getting into some space and a good kick ahead saw him chase and gather his own kick to go under the posts. 33 - 0 at half time, a good performance from the whole team. Daniel K and Jamie B had made some good ground and defended well, but not the conditions for wide play.

The second half saw Matthew G, Sabba, Daniel M, Jamie N (another on debut), Scott and Daniel C all come on, with the aim of keeping the first half standards high. Munro and Harry crossed for the first two scores, Munro using the brawn and harry the brain following a great cross field kick from Fin. Joe was up next for a brace (well done Joe, good passing and scrum half play in difficult conditions), following a nice break from Fin in midfield and good link play with Liam. The two wings then combined, a good break from Scott (really unlucky not to get on the score sheet today) led to Daniel going over. The game was rounded off with a good forwards try with Ruairidh going over after Jamie N got close and then Daniel C rounded the game off with his 10th try of the season, going in at the corner after another good No. 8 pick from Harry.

Another good home performance and good to set up a potential rematch with Greenock. We will look to play after exams are out the way, but we will need to get the SRU approval first. Until the next game.........The Mighty!

Update: A final shout out to Liam who converted 7 out of 12 today, great kicking in such windy conditions.
