The senior squads welcomed far travelled Moray for the 1xv in the Arnold Clark National League Division 4 and Hillhead/Jordanhill for the 2xv in the Arnold Clark West Region Reserve League Division 1.

When both our squads play at home, kickoff’s in tandem , a vibrant atmosphere is anticipated. The Whitecraigs teams were united being piped onto the pitches by David Braidwood accompanied by drummer Evan Dickie.

A big thank you to you both for setting the tone for the day!

The 1xv treated the spectators to a positive rugby spectacle. Scoring within the first 2 mins and converting for an early and settling 7-0 lead against the visitors who finished above Whitecraigs in the league last season.

Tackles were ferocious, clean and dominant. The ball carries fluent finding space in the opposition defence, giving the supporters plenty to cheer with a ‘maximum break’ , 7 tries 7 conversions. 49-0 at half time.

Whitecraigs continued to enjoy themselves through the second half picking up a further 31 points, 5 tries 4 conversions. A clinical scoring team performance taking advantage of the opportunities they created. Final score 80-17.

The 2xv had a challenging opening 40 mins battling with Hillhead / Jordanhill to halftime to lead 28-22 on pitch 2.

Into the second half the 2xv started to take control of the game and stretched their winning margin, playing rugby that mirrored what was getting played on pitch 1. The visitors got one more try in the second half but Whitecraigs were devastating as 66-29 victors.

Well done to the senior squad for an entertaining afternoon of rugby and genuine team performances.
