The team experienced their first defeat of the season on a mammoth away trip to Orkney. The result was a tough one to take, the game was much closer than the scoreline shows, however off the field the team bonded and enjoyed a memorable trip.

The coaching team and the players would like to thank Whitecraigs Rugby Club for supporting the team and giving us the opportunity to take on the trip.

On the field the game was a physical encounter as expected, our forwards fronted up and I thought had the upper hand throughout the competition. In attack we were sloppy with a number of dropped balls putting ourselves under pressure. In the first half we blew 2 clear chances and with our hosts taking their chances we trailed 15 - 7, on another day we would have been in front. The second half again saw mistakes punctuate our momentum and Orkney took advantage taking all their chances. The better team won on the day, but the boys were rightly frustrated at the result, they know they can play better. The opportunity to see the team on YouTube was amazing and we will use the footage to look for areas of improvement.

More important than the result was that the full squad got to experience the trip and contribute to the reputation of the great rugby spirit, it would have been easy not to take the game on, but we did, undertaking the trip and representing the club was a pleasure and a privilege.
