Whitecraigs Rugby Club provides a welcoming and competitive environment for young players aged Under 13 through to Under 18. At this stage of the game players continue to develop their rugby skills while gaining valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication, decision making and resilience.
Our youth teams follow the age grade structure set out by Scottish Rugby and compete in the Glasgow and West region against clubs from across the area. Matches provide an opportunity for players to test themselves, work as a team and continue developing their understanding of the game.
Training and Matches
Youth rugby at Whitecraigs combines structured training with regular competitive fixtures.
Training sessions focus on developing both individual skills and team play, helping players improve their passing, tackling, decision making and game awareness.
More Than Just Rugby
Rugby provides a wide range of benefits for young people both on and off the pitch.
Being part of a rugby team also builds strong friendships and gives young people a positive environment where they can challenge themselves and support their teammates.
A Pathway for Player Development
Whitecraigs has a strong reputation for developing young players and supporting them as they progress through the game.
Players at the club have successfully moved into the Scottish Rugby development pathway, representing the Glasgow and West region and progressing through the national development programmes.

Scottish Rugby Future Talent Programme
For players who continue to progress through these pathways there are opportunities to be selected for regional and national programmes. In the older youth age groups, players may also have the opportunity to enter development squads linked to professional teams such as Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby.
Working with Scottish Rugby
Scottish Rugby development staff regularly visit Whitecraigs to observe training sessions and work with coaches and players. This close relationship ensures that our coaching programmes follow national best practice and gives talented players the opportunity to be seen within the wider rugby development system.
