Choosing the right sports club for your child is an important decision. At Whitecraigs Rugby Club we aim to create a positive, welcoming environment where young players can enjoy rugby, develop their skills and build confidence both on and off the pitch.
Our youth section supports players from their first introduction to rugby through to the older youth teams, helping children grow as players while learning important life skills along the way.
A Welcoming and Inclusive Club
Whitecraigs Rugby Club prides itself on being a friendly and inclusive community. New players and families are always welcome, and many children join the club having never played rugby before.
Boys and girls begin playing together in our Micros and Minis sections, building friendships and confidence as they learn the game. As players move into the older youth age groups, teams continue to provide a supportive environment where players can develop and enjoy the sport.
Learning the Values of Rugby
Rugby is built around a set of core values that help young people grow both as players and as individuals.
These values are part of everything we do at Whitecraigs and help players develop confidence, responsibility and resilience.
Healthy, Active and Outdoors
Taking part in rugby helps young people stay active and develop physical fitness, coordination and strength. Training sessions combine skill development with games and activities that keep players engaged and enjoying their sport.
Much of our training takes place outdoors at Whitecraigs, giving children the chance to stay active, enjoy fresh air and spend time away from screens while being part of a team environment.
Building Confidence and Friendships
One of the biggest benefits of youth rugby is the friendships players build along the way. Being part of a team helps children develop confidence, communication skills and a sense of belonging.
Players support each other on and off the pitch, creating strong friendships that often last for many years.
Player Development and Opportunities
Whitecraigs has a strong focus on player development. Our coaches support players as they progress through the youth pathway, helping them improve their skills and understanding of the game.
Players at the club have progressed into Scottish Rugby development pathways, representing the Glasgow and West region and moving into national development programmes.
Scottish Rugby development staff regularly attend training sessions at Whitecraigs, giving players the opportunity to be seen within the wider rugby pathway.
A Club for the Whole Family
Whitecraigs is more than just a rugby club. It is a community where families come together to support young players, enjoy match days and be part of the club environment.
Parents often become involved as team helpers, volunteers or supporters on the sidelines, helping create the welcoming atmosphere that makes the club special.
